Veronika Decides To Die

I'm not a fan of Paulo Coelho's. It just so happened that I was curious with The Alchemist that I read it. It was a nice story but I'm not quite fond of fables. Plus, I never really let an author change my perspective of life. For me, what I see of it will remain as is.

Veronika Decides To Die is the second Coelho book that I've read. Lea lent it to me during the Coconut screening. She told me it was a nice story although there's a 'VC Andrews-like part" hehe. Anyways, I always trust Lea's opinion on books.

At first, I wasn't really into the book. Maybe because I was too involved with other stuffs like Twitter. hehe. One night, when I got bored with Twitter, I started taking it seriously. I do believe in the fact that good stories are boring at the beginning.

Veronika decided to take away her own life because (based on my understanding) she's tried of all the repetitive events and routines she had set for herself. She woke up in a mental hospital and the doctor told her she only have a week to live. This story inspired me because it taught me that people will always recognise the value of life when they're on the verge of falling down. When they think something important is slipping from their grip.

But the best lesson is, it proved that experience is the best teacher in life.

I never really let an author change my perspective of life. This statement stand still. I just want to merely say that this books reflects my own perspective and that you should grab a copy of it.
